Dallas' Birthday and our New Addition!

Dallas turned 6 years old!!!!! Can you believe it! We are still in shock. Well he had a wonderful birthday. He loves the Power Rangers so he had a Power Ranger Cake.
We all went bowling (Grandma & Grandpa Cassels, Uncle Mitch, Dallas, Mom and Dad) because ever since Wii came out Bowling is now one of his favorite sports. Dallas' score at the end of game was 102! He got a strike on his first frame all by himself. He's a stud! He did get a little help from dad on the tenth frame because Dallas was tired. (those balls are a little heavier than a Wii controler) So in the tenth frame Daddy bowled a turkey which helped out his score a little bit.

Ok and this is ShaRee with our second child at 14 weeks. She wishes she was showing more, but when she gets to wear maternity clothes that makes her feel more pregnant instead of just feeling like she just has a little gut.

Grandpa Cassel, Uncle Mitch, Daddy, Mommy, and Dallas all got to go on the go carts at the bowling alley. It was a lot of fun and Mommy and Dallas were winning until Daddy bumped us and made us spin out into a wall. It was a little scary for Dallas at first but he was brave. So in the end Mommy and Dallas finished third but we were robbed.

Grandma & Grandpa Connell sent Dallas $20 for his birthday! Dallas was so excited he loves saving up his money in his piggy bank so he can buy new transformer toys.
Then Dallas had a birthday party later that week with all of his school friends. We had 18, 5-6 year olds running around our house. We think next year we might have the party at a play place so we don't have to deal with the mess, but they all had a blast.
The theme was Transformers, Power Rangers and a Spongbob SquarePants cake.
They did some bowling of course.

And we had a pinata filled with goodies. All the kids had a great time expecially Dallas!

Here is the newest addition to our family, her name is Dakota. She is a German Shorthair Pointer. She is really smart and we are planing on training her to be our hunting dog. We think Grandpa Cassels is pretty excited to get her out in the field with him.

Dakota is 8 1/2 weeks old.

Dallas' Cat (Spidey) get along with Dakota and have become friends but our other cat (Jag) doesn't want anything to do with her.

Our Over Night Stay at the Hospital (click on the pictures)

We have a lot of updates sorry it has taken so long to do this.

Well on March 26th about 8:10am Dallas had a seizure (grand mal seizure), it lasted about 15 mins. When the paramedics got there he was still seizing but stopped by the time they put him in an ambulance. He was rushed to the hospital where they did a CT scan. While we waited for the results Dallas slept mostly he was very tired and the meds they gave him helped him sleep and took care of his headache. It took a couple of hours for Dallas to answer our questions and understand where he was and what was happening. It was pretty scary but the test came back normal.

So then they transferred him to University Hospital and we spent the night there. Dallas thought it was really cool, we could call and order any food he wanted, including all the cake, ice cream, cookies, and pudding he could ever want. But he loved getting blueberry pancakes at 11:00pm. He was very spoiled but deserved every bit of it.
The next day they had an EEG and a MRI scheduled. The EEG was first, Dallas didn't like it at all but was tough and brave and layed perfectly still watching his movie while the test was done. Oh yeah he got to watch a lot of movies too. Well when we got the results back from the EEG they came back normal so they canceled the MRI and we got to go home!!!!
They Doctors explained his seizure that lasted 15 mins. was long but that as long as it isn't in the 30 mins to 1 hour range there was no worry about damage and Dallas was acting like him self that evening, he was just a little wobbly when he walked or ran, but that got better with time.
The Doctors explained that Dallas's existing conditions, (schizencephaly) was the cause of the seizure. As we have known from birth that he could develop them at some point, but the older he got the less likely of that happening. Well they don't know if he will have another one tomorrow or in 10 years or hopefully never again. So right now we just keep some meds with us just in case he does have another one, so we can stop it if it last too long. But other wise he is doing great and we are just so happy to have him at home and happy.
